Where Can I Change Money?

E-mail Print PDF
You should change money before you leave the airport. It will be difficult and time consuming to try and change money at a bank in town. Businesses do not accept other than Japanese currency. Many businesses will not accept credit cards. Most ATM's in Japan do not accept foreign cards.

ATM's - Both airport terminals have international ATM's on the arrival floor. Most ATM's seem to have a minimum of 10,000 Yen although some have a minimum of 5,000.

Also, all post office ATMs in Japan -- all 25,000 of them -- accept most foreign ATM cards. Be sure to touch the screen part labeled "English guide" at the very beginning or you will have no hope of making it thru the transaction.

Banks - Several banks operate currency exchange booths in the arrivals area. If you are going to exchange cash or TC's, do it here. The exchange rates are uniform, so don't worry about getting ripped off.
